Blogging Mistakes

[ 21.07.2009 | sumberide.com ]

A blog is an on-line diary. So how can there be a “right” or “wrong” way of blogging? How can you make mistakes with your blog? There isn’t and usually, you can’t. Some expert bloggers have their own ideas of “dos” and “don’ts”, but a blog should be fun, or a place where you can “just let it all out”.

Friends and family are great, but sometimes you just want to get it all out without comment, advice or snide remarks. Which will NEVER happen with friends and family. They immediately think they have to help. They have to do something to make it all better.

But if you like to blog here are some points that are important to remember:

1. Never apologize. This is your blog, your personal thoughts. If you haven’t written for a while, who cares, most likely no one noticed anyway.

2. These are your thoughts, don’t just repeat what everyone else is saying. Each blog has a comment section, if you want to comment on someone’s thoughts, do it there.

3. Don’t write an essay. People are busy. It is better to write several short blogs than one long one.

4. Write like you are talking to actual people, because you are. Every person that reads your blog is a real live person.

Simple. Writing a blog isn’t rocket science. It is a fun social network where you can say what you think, comment on what other members say and meet new people with similar interests. Write as often or as little as you want. Some sites do not have any restrictions, so you can write anything you want.

How to Write SEO Friendly Blog Post Titles and Drive Targeted Traffic to Your Blog

[ 18.07.2009 | sumberide.com ]

Since the latest modifications in most of the search engines, the title of a web page has become one of the main elements to set properly in order to get the search engine rankings you’re searching for.

I remember listening an interview where Joe Vitale told he spent more time choosing the title than writing the body of the post.

In fact, one of the most important things to take care of on a blog post is choosing a good title:

Your title should be catchy, should get users’ attention, because it is the first thing they will see on the page. This requires a minimum of fantasy and humor.

At the same time, it should be in accord with the body copy: if it is misleading, then you can be losing valuable readers as well. In other words, it should contain the main keywords of the body.

Here is where you have to be creative: mixing keywords (substance and matter) with “catchiness” (verve and humor) to craft a good short masterpiece in order to grab targeted attention from readers and search engines at the same time. If you think seriously about it, it’s a hard work to do and it takes time, but it can lead to a huge amount of traffic.

In order to do this, I suggest you to:

Identify the subject of your post, meaning the problem you’re addressing with it.

For instance, you are writing an article about how to get your teeth white and you are addressing it to smokers.

Search for the keywords connected with this problem.

You can do a search on the Google Keyword External Tool to identify the good keywords to target, meaning the ones having a good compromise between the amount of searches and the competitiveness (the so called “low hanging fruits” by the SEO experts).

In the case study, the keyword “teeth whitening” would be a bad choice, because it has a high search volume, but a high competitiveness too. A good choice would be mixing it with the “smoke” modifier.

So, a title like “How to find the best teeth whitening” would probably get lost in the search engines sea. On the other hand, something like “3 teeth whitening solutions for smokers” would be way much targeted to the right audience and to the search engines as well.

Ok, this is just a short example, but I think it is enough to make you aware of the problem and of the ways you should follow to solve it. Furthermore, this is something you would better do yourself rather than outsource: You can hire a ghostwriter to get your posts done, if you think you’re not so good at writing, but the title choice is so important in the log term traffic strategy of your blog that you should keep a close eye on it.

Finding Content For Your Articles And Blogs

[ 15.07.2009 | sumberide.com ]

Have you ever wanted to write an article, make a video, or add something to you blog to help build your network marketing business but you aren’t sure what to say? Getting the word out and marketing our business means lots and lots of content if people are going to find us.

So how do we come up with ideas for adding content that’s relevant and that others will find helpful or interesting? Here are a few ideas.

Did you learn something new in a training call recently? How about writing a review for a great book you just read? Not any book, but one on personal development, leadership, or something that would benefit others wanting to build a network marketing business also.

Another suggestion is to check out some network marketing discussion forums. See what people are posting and/or asking about. Chances are if someone wants help with something, others do also. If you don’t know the answer do some research and find out and you can not only post there and possibly get some visitors to your web site from your signature line, but post an article or add something new to your blog about it.

If you market health products, you may want to start a health related blog. In addition to writing about your specific products you can add articles about nutrition, the benefits of exercise, healthy recipes, etc. Check out health blogs or a great resource is Natural Health News by Mike Adams. Be sure, of course, to write articles in your own words and don’t just copy from elsewhere.

Find out your company’s policy if you don’t already know it as to whether you can use their name online. Some companies do not allow it. Also be careful if you are writing about health products that you don’t make any medical claims or cures.

New to Blogging? Here Are Some Key Principles That You Need to Adopt to Have a Successful Blog

[ 12.07.2009 | sumberide.com ]

If you’re reading this article, that means you’re interested in blogging and you want your blog to be a success. Good for you. A blog is a great tool to use to establish expertise in a particular arena. Keep reading for more insights on what it takes to become a successful blogger.

Principle #1-Define success in your own terms.
You have to decide for yourself what a successful blog looks like. Is the weblog bringing you a lot of money? Do you have a lot of loyal subscribers? It all depends on what you want.

Principle #2-Post regularly.
You don’t have to post three times in one day. You do have to decide on a schedule that you can stick to. You’ll turn your readers off if you post on an irregular schedule.

Principle #3-Check your sources before you repeat a story.
I can’t stress this point enough. There are a lot of fake news sites out there. I know you want to be the first to break a story, but you need to make sure something is actually true before you report on it. The last thing you want is to gain a reputation for reporting inaccurate news.

Principle #4-Post original content.
People want to see what YOU have to say about your topic of choice. You do your readers a disservice if you just repeat what other people have to say about your topic. Even if you disagree with the mainstream, post your opinion. This is your site, you don’t have to agree with what everyone else says.

Blogging can be a useful tool to promote yourself. Take some time to figure out what you want from your blog. A little planning can save a lot of aggravation later. Happy blogging!

Affiliate Marketing – Complete Guide to Finding a Niche Market For Your Blog

[ 9.07.2009 | sumberide.com ]

If you have finally decided to start your own blog, then firstly i would like to congratulate you. The reason is because the toughest thing to do is always to get started. I am sure you have heard about people rambling on non stop about niche markets and how to define your target market. This article will help shed some light on this topic.

Your blogging style and target audience always come hand in hand. The moment you decide to create a blog, you must figure out what your target audience is; you must know what do they want to read and find out more from your blog. The articles your write on your blog must provide quality and value to your readers in order to build up a relationship with them. If you provide quality information, it would be very effective in building up communication and your readership. Encouraging your readers to leave comments in your blog works fine as well.

At a closer look, the definition of a niche market could be broken down into 3 criteria:

  1. A group of people – This particular group of people (targeted audience) interested in a particular hobby, interest or profession.
  2. Searching for a solution – Your targeted audience would be better if they are searching for a solution, and you are there to provide it to them. You need to find this group of people through what they are looking for. The most practical way is to use keyword research tools to find out exactly what phrases or questions these people are typing into the search engines to find a solution.
  3. They are not finding many relevant results – It would be easier to establish your blog in a smaller and more targeted market than a saturated one. The reason is because if you wish to write a blog to publish updates on soccer news, you would realise that many websites out there are already doing so and the competition is very stiff. In this case you lose out on your readership and traffic.

I advise that people start with their own passions, hobbies, interest or expertise.

You might find this formula handy:
My niche market is people who are (action word) + (your passions)

Here are some examples:
My niche market is people who are (learning) to (play the piano).
My niche market is people who are trying to (build) a (dog kennel).
My niche market is people who are learning to (cook) (French-style cuisine).

Use this questionnaire to dig deeper into your interests:
What websites do you visit when you have nothing to do? What topics do these websites cover?
Do you collect anything?
Do you play any sports?
Do you have pets?
Do you have any specialized knowledge? Example: Flower Arrangement, Gardening Skills…
What is your occupation? What field or area of interest does it deal in?
Is there anything you really want to learn about, but you gave up because of the time constraint in your life?

Come up with a list of at least 3 or more interests and you are ready to go!

To Your Affiliate Success!
